Setting the Default Font for ALL Comments (Everywhere)

Reported by Metta Zetty | March 20th, 2018 @ 10:25 PM | in 2.0.1.2

I'm not sure if this is a bug or simply user error, but I can't find a way to set the default font on ALL my comments throughout the application.

I have edited the base font on the home page editing screen -- and I've successfully edited the templates for my Documents and DoNotes.

However, in most of the other places where the comment (note) editor is used, the default font is NOT the font I want. For example, I run into this issue on my tasks and to-dos, journal entries, contacts, vault items note blocks, etc.

The odd thing is that the default font is NOT the same in ALL these areas. In some cases, it is Arial, and in others it is Segoe UI.

In light of this, I'm wondering:
-* Do we have the option to change the default comment font throughout the ENTIRE application?

-* If so, should changing the base font change the default comment font everywhere? Or am I missing something here?

There's no global font that can be set to change the font of every record automatically. This is by design. Some users have specific formats they want in their rich text notes and comments. You can set the initial font style by changing the base editor template, as I think you have done.

As this change could seriously impact the data content of every single record in a database, I have to decline in implementing development. Also, once the current database has been changed, what of other databases and even backup databases.

It is possible to create a Styles file that you can import into a Document/Comments. Setup a set of styles you like, then export those to a file. Then import that set of Styles when needed. In the Styles, the "Normal" style font is the base so work from that.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for your feedback on this request, Chris. I understand completely about NOT wanting to override existing custom settings, and I will explore the "Styles" option to see how this might fit my needs.

In the meantime, I do have one follow-up question about the feasibility of another related request:
-- Could there be an OPTIONAL preference to set the default font per module for those of who would like to standardize the comment display in our database?

We can already do this on Documents and DoNotes, which is great -- and I'm just curious about the feasibility of implementing a similar setting control in the other individual modules.

I've experimented a bit with the "Styles" option, and it seems like any style I create applies only to the current document/comment.

If I open another new instance of the note/comment editor (for another task, contact, etc.) the custom style I've created is not available.

I also couldn't find anything in the help file about importing styles, so I don't know if I'm missing something here -- or if the functionality I'm looking for doesn't exist (i.e., the option of creating a style that can be used in any instance of the note/comment editor).

Will be looking forward to your feedback on this style question, and on my preceding question re: an optional preference setting for font styling per module.

    Thanks again.

I'm happy to make improvements to this so you could actually continue the conversation in the forum to get others involved.
