Item counts

I have the latest version installed and my OS is windows 10.
In task db, the item count on the navigation bar does not update any change in the folder. When an item is completed the count remains the same. i am sure that there is a preference adjustment some where, but i don not know where it is if there is one. Thank for looking into the issue.
